What happens in an Osteopathic Treatment?
-
Assessment
In the initial osteopathic assessment, Rebecca will ask you about your medical history, to get an idea of how your current concerns fit into the big picture of your overall health. This is followed by a physical examination using hands-on techniques to assess the musculoskeletal system. Rebecca then creates a comprehensive treatment plan, considering emotional and lifestyle factors. Generally there will a follow-up 2-3 weeks later and then monthly after that.
-
Treatment
Following the assessment, treatment occurs on a the treatment table and will involve changing posistions from seated to lying down on the back, side or front. Rebecca identifies a starting point for the process, based on the assessment that may focus on the musculoskeletal system or fine touch for craniosacral, fluid body, or visceral issues. Your breathing will facilitate resisted movements, fostering a deeper connection with your body's strength. By the session's end, you may feel a sense of lightness, grounding, and deep relaxation.

Exercise Recommendations
At the end of your session, Rebecca explains a little about the work we did today and will often recommend some exercises that you can easily fit into your daily routine. If there's time, she'll also guide you in some movements on the Gyrotonic equipment. These exercises are all about reinforcing the progress you’ve made during your session. Rebecca will then discuss options for a follow up based your individual needs.
